What an amazing country we are blessed to be visiting or perhaps living in. Where else in the world have you felt safer, more taken care of or had a better time. In our fast paced lives we don’t often think about others or the struggles that those less fortunate face on a daily basis. A man once told me that ‘you will be the same person you are today that you will be in 5 years except for the people that you meet and the places that you see’. That has always stuck with me and influenced my behavior in foreign lands. Phuket has it all; warm weather, beautiful beaches, plenty of activities for everyone, great food and always smiling faces.
Yes, Phuket has been good to us. So good in fact that there is a foundation that was set up to deal with the problems after the Tsunami and specifically that of the orphans left behind that terrible day.
This foundation ensures that these wonderful kids have a safe and nurturing home and the basic necessities of life. But the good folks don’t stop there. They are also committed to helping them develop into positive role models for other children. You can help.
“Research shows that those who volunteer and donate report feeling happier and more satisfied with their life than those who do not.” Perhaps you have a special talent that you could share in a workshop. Recent events have included a photo workshop, swimming lessons and even a ‘survivor style’ game day for the kids. Think of the effect you could have on a young persons life and the happiness it will bring you to know that you made a difference.
You can visit their website to learn more about this great foundation.
