BLOW – The Vision of a Global Club Guru

An interview with Thomas Alexandre @ Blow

Conceived and managed by global club guru Thomas Alexandre, Blow is the first and only open-air member’s club in Patong, and quickly became known as the best hang-out in Phuket for lovers of the latest vibes who want to party at an intimate, exclusive, fun and friendly venue.

Blow is the Phuket party venue for chic ex-pat socialites and trendy Thais who know about music and want an upbeat chill-out experience, where some of the hippest DJs in the world perform, like Hedkandi, Riva Starr and Nakadia.

Blow’s success as the trendiest Patong party venue is down to Thomas’ high-octane enthusiasm for offering unique party experiences, mixed with a passion for bringing the best of the international club scene to Phuket.

Constantly coming up with innovative forms of entertainment, Thomas is known for putting on some of the most exclusive parties on the island, attracting cool crowds aged anywhere between 25 and 50.

He held the first snow party in Phuket for a Christmas Eve bash at Blow, and he has big plans for 2011, including a massive all-day-all-night Songkran party featuring some of the biggest and freshest international music acts.

Thomas’ intuition for creating an exclusively intimate vibe comes from more than a decade’s experience running chic night clubs in some of the most vibrant hotspots on the global night life scene.

Thomas began his clubbing career in the cradle of London’s high-so night life, after completing five years at catering school in France, running cocktail bars and exclusive night clubs in the capital.

He has traveled the globe throwing parties in the uber-cool world of fashion, music and cinema at Cannes and the Oscars, to name a few, but he’s always wanted to break the mould and create more intimate ambiance.

Blow was the perfect opportunity for Thomas to make his vision a reality, and it paid off, bringing a new kind of venue to a place already packed with clubs and discos catering to the mass commercial music scene.

[Thomas] “I immediately liked the place and saw that it had a lot of potential. Although Blow is attached to Seduction Disco, it’s a separate and exclusive club with a much more classy feel, an entry fee for non members, and a dress code to ensure a good-looking crowd”.

Thomas tries to travel as much as possible to keep up to date with the global party scene, from new designs to fashion, and of course, music.

[Thomas] “Blow isn’t supposed to be the kind of place where everybody wants to go. It’s a niche venue, it’s fashionable, and the crowd here know about new music. They want to meet like-minded people in a fun and relaxing environment”.

Non members pay 1,000 baht to get in to Blow but that doesn’t stop the venue filling up every night. They come for the music and the comfortable, open-air surroundings with contemporary middle-eastern décor, but more importantly, they come for the special treatment they get from the friendly and attentive staff, which Thomas says is one of the main components of the club’s ambiance.

[Thomas] “The managers, the staff and the DJ all work together and have fun, which makes for an intimate and positive mood”.

And Thomas always has an eye on the crowd; making sure the ambiance is just right.

[Thomas] “Blow is not always about having wild parties. The ideal crowd is about 25 people and if you look around and see people moving their heads to the music while chatting and relaxing, then we’ve achieved what we are aiming for.

[Thomas] “Everyone who comes here says Blow is the only place in Thailand with a vibe like this. Even visiting DJs often ask to play here in their free time, just because they really enjoy the ambiance.

For example, DJ Nakadia chose to play here for New Year’s Eve, even though she had the chance to play much bigger and more lucrative gig that night.”

With a state of the art sound system, regular international DJ gigs, spacious seating and an innovative drink list of ‘twisted’ cocktails, Blow is definitely the club to be and be seen – and with global clubbing guru Thomas at the helm, you always know you’re in for a different kind of night out.

  Stayed 7 nights in Patong, we club hopped for the first 2 days, then settled that seduction and blow was the place to be every night without a doubt. cant wait for 2011. :)
