Disco Fever
Happy Birthday Bangla 2009...No, it’s not a new flu that just came out. Phuket is famous for it’s Discos. There are many clubs to choose from each bringing there own charm to this magical paradise. Patong is the center of the Universe when it comes to your Disco options but a few honorable mentions for those that seek some time ‘off the beaten path’…which isn’t a path at all, they are well maintained mountain roads that are thrilling to drive on with starlit views from the tops. Better take a taxi, they are comfortable and reasonable for the insane.
Going north up over the mountain, make sure you look over your shoulder at the “simply breathtaking” night lights of Patong, now you’re ready to check out Stereo Lab. This new club also recently opened and brings out an eclectic mix of expats and tourists in the know, or more correctly those that leave a 3km radius from their hotel. Local and import DJ’s play some great music and also a relaxing place to hang out as they have a great view of the ocean and some ‘beach beds’ for your reclining pleasure.
Now, heading south out of Patong you’ll eventually come to a club called Icon in Rawai. Usually a ‘last stop’ for the locals in the area, not many tourists know about this hidden gem. It gets started after 12 and closes when you close. Continuing on down ‘the line’ you’ll find the gold at the end of the rainbow “Laguna” Or maybe it’s just your maladjusted eyes, either way you have struck gold in late night clubs. Playing popular dance music on this tiny dance floor with 2 elevated areas to embarrass your self, double the fun.
Better hit the ATM before you make it back to home base…”Safari’s still open?” Nothing a Sang Som (Thai Whiskey) and M150 (caffeine injection) can’t get going again.
