Phuket has a tropical climate and is warm throughout the year, it has two seasons, dry and wet! High season starts around November and lasts until April and it is mostly hot and dry with daily temperatures ranging from 27 to 36 degrees Celsius. Low season is from May until October and temperatures are usually cooler.

It can be quite humid due to the combination of rain showers and heat. When it rains it's a tropical downpour, it can rain for the whole day so you will have to think of something to amuse yourself indoors, down a couple of large shots, get the ironing done perhaps, or it can rain only for a few hours followed by brilliant sunshine and then more rain. No day is ever the same so don’t leave your hotel without an umbrella, rain mac and bikini, preferably not wearing them all at the same time.

High season is when the majority of tourists visit Phuket. All the clubs and restaurants are open and places can get pretty crowded. Things tend to be more expensive because of this and if you are after a bargain then you will have to haggle harder. Low season it is a lot quieter and you will find some wild, deserted beaches, get a chance to chat more with the locals who won’t be as busy and get 70% knocked off the price of your hotel room! However businesses take this opportunity to make any repairs or carry out building work and some places will be closed for a period of time.
